Description

Practically insoluble in water and in ethanol (95%). It dissolves in dilute acids.

Reaction A
A white crystalline precipitate should be formed.

Reaction B
A bright red turbidity should develop which should gradually settle to give a bright red precipitate.

Soluble alkalis
Not more than 1.0 ml of 0.05M sulphuric acid should be required.

Soluble salts
The residue should not weigh more than 12 mg.

Not more than 4 ppm

Sulphate
Not more than 0.2%

Microbial contamination
Total microbial count, not more than 100 per ml;
1 g should be free from Escherichia coli.
